Grammys 2019: Seun Kuti Apologizes For Failure To Perform At The Ceremony

Oluseun Anikulapo Kuti, commonly known as Seun Kuti, failed to perform at the 2019 Grammy awards.

The son of the Abami Eda and leader of the Egypt 80 band had been announced alongside Mali’s Fatoumata Diawara to perform at the Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony which went down at the Staples Centre in LA on Sunday, February 10, 2019.

”First and foremost I have to say I am sorry to all the fans that tuned in to see us perform yesterday but didn’t. I had the weirdest ticket mix up in history meaning I missed my flight and the rehearsals and we couldn’t go on,”

”Big up to Soweto Gospel choir a group that has also inspired me. Fatoumata Diawara for holding down our show without me.” he posted.

 

 

Seun who was nominated in the “World Music” category however made it to the main ceremony and was nominated for his 2018 album, “Black Times” alongside South Africa’s Soweto Gospel Choir, Bombino from Niger, Mali’s Fatoumata Diawara and Soviet’s Yiddish Glory.

Seun Kuti is a Nigerian musician and the youngest son of legendary afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti. Seun leads his father’s former band Egypt 80
